Activation
Account ownership verification for natural persons is available as an option in Sis ID products. Contact your Sis ID representative to activate this feature.
How it works
Sis ID uses banking data sources to assess the reliability of account ownership and returns a risk indication for the verified pair.
Coverage
The geographical areas open for natural person checks are listed in Coverage for Natural person verifications
Usage
The data required for evaluation are:
- Bank details of the natural person
- First and last name of the presumed account holder
- Optionally, the date of birth of the presumed account holder
Triggering methods for natural person checks
- From My Sis ID, as a unit check
- From My Sis ID, via an import file using a dedicated template available in the "Control Imports" section:
- Country code (2 characters) of the person to be verified
- First name
- Last name
- Date of birth (optional) (format: yyyy-mm-dd)
- Country code (2 characters) of the bank details
- IBAN
- Via API, for unit or bulk checks
Check results
The results of checks for natural persons are based on the comparison of bank details with the name of the person, as registered by the bank hosting the account.
- Green score: Perfect match between account type, names, and date of birth (when provided).
- Orange score: Bank details are not eligible. This reason is returned when the account is not reachable for verification. Sis ID recommends proceeding with internal checks.
- Red score: Mismatch in name, date of birth, and/or account type.
Specificities
Joint accounts
Joint accounts are treated the same as individual accounts.
To verify a joint account, Sis ID recommends performing the check with one holder at a time.
To verify multiple holders of a joint account, it is recommended to perform two separate checks, one per holder.
Special characters and compound names
For French natural person checks supported by SEPAmail Diamond
- Hyphens in compound names are preserved.
- Special characters are replaced by their non-special equivalents before the SEPAmail Diamond check by Sis ID (e.g., "Jean-François" is converted to "JEAN-FRANCOIS" and "Jean-René" to "JEAN-RENE").
Special cases for certain characters:
- Apostrophe and space are considered as distinct characters > "d'Alembert", "Dalembert", and "D alembert" do not return the same score.
- Other special characters:
/, - _ . ( ) + @ ?are considered as spaces > the same score is obtained for "d:Alembert", "d alembert", and "d?alembert".
For natural person checks with any other verification source
- Special characters entered in the verification fields are not taken into account during processing.
- When a name contains special characters or punctuation (e.g., accents, hyphens, apostrophes, ampersands, or symbols), these are ignored to ensure a more reliable match with banking data, which may be recorded differently by institutions.
- This normalization improves result quality and reduces the risk of orange or red scores due to format differences.
